Welcome to the City of a Thousand Hills

Airside meet-and-greet at Kigali International Airport with welcome refreshments and a Made-in-Rwanda kit. Transfer to the Kigali Serena Hotel. After check-in, a private guided visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial at Gisozi with your historian guide, followed by a reflective sundowner on the hotel rooftop. Dinner at your hotel.

Kigali in Depth

A full day exploring Rwanda's exceptional capital. Morning: the Nyamirambo Women's Centre walking tour — a community-guided stroll through Kigali's most vibrant neighbourhood, ending with local tea and handmade crafts. Lunch at Question Coffee, the celebrated women's cooperative café. Afternoon: bean-to-cup coffee plantation experience in the hills outside the city — walk the slopes, learn the process, cup the final roast. Early evening back in the city: browse the artisan cooperatives at Caplaki Crafts Village. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 — Into the Virunga Foothills

Into the Virunga Foothills

After breakfast, depart for the scenic 2.5-hour drive north to the Virunga volcanoes. En route, optional stop at terraced hillside viewpoints. Check in to One&Only Gorilla's Nest by early afternoon. Optional afternoon: Iby'iwacu Cultural Village for Intore dance, banana beer brewing, and traditional herbal medicine — the most authentic community cultural experience near the park. Dinner fireside with a Rwandan tasting menu.

Day 4 — First Encounter

First Encounter

07:00 transfer to Volcanoes National Park HQ. RDB briefing and family allocation, then trek into the bamboo and Hagenia forest with guide, trackers, and porters. One regulated hour with the gorilla family. Return to lodge for lunch. Afternoon: in-suite spa treatment, or the optional Dian Fossey Fund Ellen DeGeneres Campus tour.

Second Encounter & Departure

Second morning gorilla trek with a different habituated family. Farewell lunch at the lodge. Scenic transfer to Kigali (or helicopter upgrade). Transfer to Kigali International Airport.
